Just wondering if I will be considered old or young when I go. Because i may end up waiting for another year and re-apply, because of financial reasons... *cries*
Don't worry about it. There are ages all over the place. I'd be bet that the median age is closer to 24. I was 22 when I started my MPH, and I"ll be 25 when I start my PhD.
32 here, and just about to start the MPH. Don't fret about age - just go back when the time is right. I've enjoyed being debtless in San Francisco, but I've hit a wall professionally, and I want the MPH to open some doors that wouldn't otherwise be available to me. Stories is right about ages being all over the map.
I would have to agree with everyone. Age won't be an issue. Use the time to get your finances under control and also get some extra experience under your belt.
I waited till I was 26 to get my MPH, in order to supervise some CDC grants and it has been the best thing for me.
22 and I expect to start in Spring. I graduated this year, but I can't see myself getting into the job market right now with a Bachelors.. just isn't happening.
I'll probably get another restaurant job and some loans while I complete the masters.
I'll probably work for a year at my current job to pay off my undergrad loans and then apply. I'll be 23 when I start if everything goes smoothly during my Masters.
28 here. I believe I read that the average age at Yale was 26- of course, that includes people in the Advanced MPH, who already have terminal degrees in another field.
26 today. Where I'm getting my MPH, I'll be on the older end of the spectrum...which I find pretty scary.
Sorry about having to wait, beebee. That happened to me with my masters #1 (yes, I am one of those who is farming degrees), but I had to wait for purely asinine reasons--I dragged my feet and didn't get all my application stuff done in time for the deadline. I went ahead and took classes as a nondegree student, but I still ended up graduating a year later anyway.
