How old were you when you started med school?

Technically 21, but 22 just after starting...

Probably too young mature wise, but then again the path is long and I can't imagine being a 30+ year old resident. My body (and sleep) couldn't take that...

It's already too much for me

I met a guy this past summer vacationing in Aruba who was 55 when he started med school. He was a dentist first and them went to med school. He did a psych residency and is now in his late 60's so he's only been practicing for a few years. I was 27 btw.

I was 28 and like the OP I've been fairly bitter at times about it. I understand consciously that I shouldn't be and that I wouldn't be where I am if I had taken another path, but that is of little consolation sometimes. You just learn to deal with it (hopefully in a constructive fashion) and move on.

I'll be 25 next month and I'll be applying in July, if accepted that would make me a 26 year old MS1.

I wish I would have had my act together when I started college at 18 but I didn't. I switched majors a couple times, transferred colleges and did a DIY post-bacc.

I look at it this way: I'm 4 years older than the average MS1, that's not really significant. Plus people tell me I still look 18 😛

I feel for the poor bastards who are just starting college at 30+ and want to attend medical school. I have a cousin who's 35 and he's like I'm too old for med school I'll go the NP route.

Turned 23 during the first few weeks and am MD/PhD so now I'm a 29 year old MS3. Older than most of the residents I interact with and even had a couple attendings in IM/peds who are my age.
