Been a lull in my SDN activity this term, it's called Orgo.
Back in June, I observed a well-known heart surgeon. This was the 3rd or 4th time I had done this, along with his partner. We got along great, covering a period of time from Dec-June. He knows a lot about me, we share many interests, he thinks my background is interesting, and actually, he's a huge fan of my work. His OR is decorated with characters from the show I wrote for (point being: it will be a nice and unique letter, very positive).
He offered an LOR.
I accepted and he said, "Send me a letter about why you want to go into medicine" as I want to make this personal, I used to be on an adcom and I know the difference between a good letter and a great letter. Fair enough!
But, he asked for it to be "a sentence or two long." Ooooh k. I went a little over the limit, but I emailed him what he requested.
And then, after setting up Interfolio, I formally requested the letter. And then this MD moved across the country, that same month, to his new job, which I knew was taking place.
Haven't heard a peep since. I know how busy a heart surgeon must be, let alone one who has moved across the country, and that's why I haven't been annoying, just sitting quiet.
So, how would you guys handle this, I'm getting concerned it fell through the cracks and I'd like all my LORs in by Feb/March as April/May is MCAT time and June is apply time...
Thanks,
