The tablet PC that I want to buy is ran by a 1.8 GHZ core duel processor, but the school asks the processor for laptop needs to be 2.0 GHZ minimum. It doesn't say whether it should be core dual or not. Is the school really strict on fullfilling the laptop requirement? I just want to make sure that I don't need to buy another laptop just b/c my new tablet pc is clocked 0.2 below the requirement. Thanks

Call and ask the school directly.

From a computer processing standpoint the difference of .2 is indiscernable when working, but it is better to be safe than sorry!

Overclock that bish

If the school is asking for a 2.0 Ghz single core, then your 1.8 dual will have no problems running the apps. Dual cores might not run as fast but have better mutlitasking and computing... so you'll be just fine. Just make sure you have plenty of RAM.

Thats the only thing you should be focusing on. 2GB and above can pretty much run everything on a dual core, even on an AMD.

They don't care if your running a 486...
Seriously though, they never check and most if not all laptops you can buy these days are more than powerful enough to run power point and if you ever use Vitalbook (which I never have).

I have a 1.6ghz core2duo macbook air which runs just fine.
Before that I had a 1.86 core duo macbook which also ran everything fine.

I don't actually remember any situations in which you HAVE to use a laptop except for when your doing the CAD/CAM simulation in lab.

Other than that, it's up to you whether or not you want to bring it to lecture/lab etc...

Yes..please get enough RAM.
I would highly recommend 2gb if not more
