So I'm Canadian, and as if I dont have enough stacked against me as an international applicant I just realized last night that I sent out Candian$$ cheques to about 5 different schools!!!

I wondered if it was a big deal til I got an email from RFU saying "we're putting your application aside until you send us a new cheque"

arrrrgggghhhh so now I had to ship out all new cheques which will push me behind even more!

anyone else make stupid mistakes?? come on make me feel better!

p.s. i swear if i get a rejection from RFU 2 days after they receive my cheque im gonna throw a fit

cheque? i'm confused. is that the same as a check? if so, what does it matter if it's canadian or american?

Alternative spellings, both mean the same thing.

I think it matters because they are from a foreign bank institution.

haha yes, a cheque is the same as a "check" and i'm not sure why it matters, because to me, money is money. But it definetley does -- a lot of US places, including most post secondary and government areas don't accept Canadian cheques. Good luck though!

sorry thats the canadian in me haha cheque = check

and canadian dollars do not equal american dollars
so my 100$ check is actually worth prob around 92$ american... and you know those money-suckers wont settle for a few bucks short!

EDIT : a canadian check deposited in an american bank still is only worth canadian currency,,, thats what I wasnt sure of. Thankfully my parents have a US dollar account so they could write me cheques otherwise i woulda been paying the bank for stupid US money orders

alright, i get it now. so how'd you fix it? did you send money orders?

well, at least the school told you. i mean you could have been waiting around thinking that you were complete.

funny thing is i was already complete at dartmouth.... i sent them a new check anyway just to be sure since they havent deposited my first one and I dont feel like calling them in a month to find out theyre waiting for payment...

arrgh this process is so frustrating.

p.s. do you know what it friggin costs to send registered mail from canada?? what a rip off!!!!!!
