Hi everybody,

I'd appreciate it if those of you who're done with 1st year give me an idea as to how time consuming and difficult 1st year of pharm school might be.
I have a little dilema. Next year is my 1st year and i was going to get a place by myself to live at. However I grossly underestimated how fast appartments would fill up close to Ferris State University and unless if I wanna pay a lot or live furhter from campus it looks like I may have to room with strangers, probably undergrad students unless I'm lucky enough to find other pharm. or optometry students. If I think I'm gonna be studying alot I might just get my own place despite the disadvantages.
Thanks

I thought it was pretty darn time-consuming. I was a good student my first time through college, but I still didn't spend nearly that much time studying as I have so far for pharmacy school. I live about 30 min from school, have a house and a family, worked 20 hours/week and I struggled to get it all done and maintain my sanity. I eventually had to cut back on the number of work hours I put in.

I don't really see the problem with living with strangers, esp. if they are professional students, chances are - you probably won't spend as much time shooting the breeze with them as you would if they were your friends. Just carve yourself out a little cubby hole in the library where you can study and take the cheap and convenient route. If I didn't own a house and have a husband, that's what I would have done. Just my two pennies.
