In most secondary essays, schools ask what your plans are for the 2014-2015 academic year if you're out of school OR what you have done since graduation and you plans until you matriculate.

Most applicants that are out of school are working, however, some MD programs have stringent requirements when it comes to per-requisite courses. If I'm out of school and planning on taking a few prereq courses for some MD programs, how should I address this on a secondary for a program I don't need those courses for? I imagine they want to know if you'll be taking any courses.

How understanding are ADCOMs about this situation? Is it seen as a possible sign of disinterest in their own program? Surely ADCOMs acknowledge that applicants will have to jump through hoops for some programs.

I don't think programs would get upset if you're taking classes in order to qualify for another program. That's a non-issue. I'm sure that if you explain that you're taking additional courses to prepare for medical school and also to possibly keep your mind sharp, they wouldn't pry any further.

Adcom: Hmm...it seems Heday is taking Calculus. That course isn't required for our program here at VerreeNosee Medical School. *gasp* He must be applying to medical school elsewhere too!

Lol...just make sure to show adequate interest in their program and you should be fine.

What classes?
I'm gonna take sociology and psychology after graduating, if they ask, I would say it is to prepare me for the MCAT. I might take more classes because I find them interesting.

English and Calculus; I have taken writing intensive and some upperlevel, but I'm off by a class or two at a few programs. AP credits don't satisfy their requirements.

I don't mention it. If they ask, say "I wanted to learn more/be better prepared for med school"... done.
