Towson University asks on OTCAS if it is your first choice school. There are just "yes" and "no" buttons...no space for explanation. My honest answer is "it depends." Which button do you think I should push? Will saying no hurt my application? I want to be honest, but I also don't want to shoot myself in the foot.

If my boyfriend matches in Baltimore for his radiology residency, then yes. If not, then no. Which button do you think I should push? Will saying no hurt my application? Say yes. Applying to OT school is dog-eat-dog world. Always make a school feel like they are your number one choice. I dont look at it as morally lying... its really odd that they directly ask you that though. I domt recall Towson asking that when I applied last year. Nonetheless, just check yes (it won't hurt and its not like its a binding decision).

Thanks! That's what I was leaning toward. I think I just needed some validation. I appreciate the advice!

I second that! Towson really is my top choice, so I didn't have to worry about it, but they will probably care about the answer to that. I remember the admissions coordinator telling us not to feel bad if we are on the waitlist, because a decent amount of the people accepted end up turning down the offer, so they may use that question to weed out the people they think won't accept an admissions offer.

Thanks Marie12! I know almost nothing about the program. What do you like about it?

I like that they have you do a psychosocial fieldwork. That's an area I don't have too much experience in. I feel the curriculum covers a wide variety of areas of OT (They don't seem to favor one area). I also like the baltimore area, and can see myself living there. We will most likely hear from them in mid February saying if we made it to the second round, or not!

This is a no brainer. The answer is always yes to that question. Case closed. Best of luck.
Yeah, I know. I guess my other concern is that they might know I wasn't being 100% honest because I haven't finished all the pre-reqs nor am I registered for them this Spring. If it was my first choice, I'd probably be taking those classes right now.

I know people wait to take the physics class and the medical terminology class. I think they understand that other schools don't require those, and they understand that people don't want to spend money on those classes unless they get accepted. I think they just have you sign an agreement promising to finish those prerequisites if you're accepted.

can someone explain to me the different rounds towson has? is there an interview component or is it strictly accept/waitlist/reject?

No, there are no interviews. In mid February (in a week or 2) they will send emails to applicants letting them know if they move on to the second round, or if they are rejected. If you make it to the second round, they let people know by regular mail at the end of march if they are accepted or waitlisted.
