Ok, so I plan on submitting my application, and getting it AMCAS "verified" (whatever that means) in June. I am also taking the MCAT in June.

I know i need to be submitting my personal statement, getting my LORs together etc, but how the heck do i do all this and where do I submit it?

Could someone fill me in on HOW to apply? Or refer me to a link on SDN.

I just do not know the order of everything i should be doing in the next few months...

Thanks

AMCAS site has all the answers, as do SDN threads if you search around for it.

well you submit through AMCAS. Until you open an account with them you can work on the harder parts such as your personal statement and LOR earlier.

The personal statement should be 3,500 characters maximum and you can start working on a rough draft in MS Word. The topic of course being why you want to enter medicine. You should reserve a month or two to write your personal statement and have it looked over by many different people so you can have feedback and edit as necessary.

As for LOR, you can either use AMCAS letter writing service or ask around and see if your school has a LOR writing service (most do). Some schools will assemble your LOR's into a packet while others do a committee letter. Start thinking carefully about where you want to get your LOR's from and ask at least a month before the deadline it needs to be submitted. Writers will be working on your LOR at their own convenience meaning they will be busy doing lots of other things.

ok, thanks! I promise i am not a troll...

Can i sign up on AMCAS anytime? Or does it have to be when this yrs application cycle opens up?

OP, seriously. Getting information that could so impact your life and future on an internet forum, regardless of how respectable is a bad decision. Go to the website, read, search, read some more, click around, start filling out an application and see what it says, etc. If you have questions email them and ask.

Not trying to be mean, but you want to be a physician right? You can't just post on SDN with your patient cases and ask for the general consensus on a diagnosis.
