I was wondering how to apply for combined degree programs? I already have submitted the dental school app, and I assume any combined program is worked out after I am accepted at a dental school?? If not do I need to apply for a PhD program separately for all the schools I applied to that offer combined degrees?

Thank you very much!
Sorry if this subject has already been discussed, I did a search through SDN and didn't find a lot of info on it.

You realize schools have websites and phone numbers for a reason?

With that said, it varies from school to school. Typically, you apply AFTER you gain admission to the DMD/DDS program. But, like I implied above, ask the individual schools you are interested in. Don't rely on random answers from SDN.

Thanks, I'd talked to medical students and they had said there was just a box to check on the actual application if you wanted to be considered for MD/Phd programs. I guess it isn't as common for dental students so that's why it isn't included on the application.

Several programs I know offer a phd. You must apply independently and there should be a box for this on secondaries-- not all schools offer phd.

At some of the schools that I looked into, as others stated, you must apply to both programs separately.

Upon acceptance to both programs (at the same institution) you can then work with the dental school and grad school to work out your curricula with their provided/recommended schedule.
