How to apply to 4th year hospital rotations?

Hello, I am currently a 2nd yr student and dont know much about the way 4th yr works. At my school 3rd yr rotations are done at our hospital and other local hospitals, but 4th year we may travel to anywhere we want..how is this started? is there an application service? or does one contact any hospital of interest? I am at an lcme accredited school.

AAMC has the VSAS for those hospitals that use it:

If not then just contact the medical education dept at where you want to go and they'll put you to their application, or just find their website and there's usually directions on there on how to apply.
