How to approach pattern folding questions PAT (example given)

Hey guys. I'm having real difficulty with pattern folding. If anyone could give me good tips on how to approach these suckers that would be appreciated.

Here's an example from the generator on bootcamp:

Now, the answer is C but how is B anymore different than C?

Here's my technique for pattern folding questions:

Pattern folding becomes easier if you can see which "piece" of the unfolded pattern lines up with other pieces when you fold it into a 3D object. I would pick a piece of the unfolded pattern and orient the unfolded pattern based on that piece according to how it appears in the answer choices. To decide between answer choice B and C, I would pick the two-color arch. Between choice B and choice C, the difference is the white or shaded square in the inner arch next to the shaded side of the two-color arch. If you look at the unfolded object, you can see that the square that will line up with the shaded side of the two-color arch is supposed to be shaded (the top most square).
