Was accepted to a school today and am currently over the moon with excitement. I was just wondering what everyone who's been accepted, already attending, or is a professor at med schools would suggest for me to do to keep busy and best prepare for matriculation in July. Thanks for any/all advice!

unless your school says otherwise, you can get straight Cs your senior year and not get your acceptance rescinded. Do shadowing for your own interest. Everything you do from now until medschool will be for your own interest. You don't have to do anything really, and anything you that you do get involved in won't "prepare" you. Keep checking out different specialties if you'd like or do nothing at all..

Probably travel and have fun.

If you're a gunner, you could try to start a research project or/and you could buy an anatomy book and start reading it.

If you're a freak you could buy First Aid, pathoma, BRS physiology, and a step 1 qbank, and you probably could teach yourself everything in 4 months.

Haha I don't necessarily think I'm a freak or gunner just wanted to try to be as best prepared as I can before I start. At my school we do a full gross anatomy dissection last semester of senior year so I think that will be where I focus most of my efforts

I'm taking a cadaver dissection class next semester at my school for fun... And to try and get ready for that first anatomy block in med school. Possibly Human histo... Less likely though.

I'd also like to buy a drum set and get good at those, and go to as many concerts as I can.

I might work with one of my professors on writing a chapter in some psychopathology textbook for neuroimmunopsychopathology. Because I like immuno, and if I don't have enough to do I will go insane before med school starts.

I might try to start a band with some friends and play some local shows through the winter. I'd have to find people that would be okay breaking up in 6 months though. Or at least losing a member haha.

I'm going to figure it out over xmas break, I have no idea. These are things I have been thinking about. Definitely doing dissection though. I love that 'ish.

Do whatever you want! 😀 And congrats!

I'm definitely gonna try and travel a decent amount come the spring/summer. Gonna blow some money on spring break and a trip in the summer prior to starting school. Not sure what just know that's what i want to do.

But for now im gonna keep grinding out A's and ECs as the cycle goes on, keeping my options open and bettering my app until that final bell rings.

But I'd definitely suggest relaxing, finding a cool hobby, and enjoying life. What ever YOU want to do! Congrats!

Get hammered daily. But alas you still have to finish college while I'm already done and have zero obligations 😉

UNLV just opened a med school and their offering full rides to their first class. I'm praying I get accepted there haha. But if not you're right it doesn't make much difference haha

That is awesome lol I'd take that any day

ALL of the class? What are they funded by? The sin city casinos and drugs?

Probably going to visit North Korea with my grand parents.

They have a donor family who is giving them the money.

You could make sure your credit is in good shape, start filling out your FAFSA, and fill out information for scholarships. If you don't do the first 2 things I just listed, you wont be going to school anywhere unless you are paying cash.

I put a month notice at my work at beginning of october. 1 week and half to go 🙂. My plan is pretty simple:

From Nov till Feb
1/ Do what I love (martial art) twice a day everyday
2/ Volunteer at the clinic as much as possible (I'm really happy here)
3/ Do all the FAFSA stuffs out the way...
4/ Visit friends and family (has been neglecting them for 4 years 🙂)

From Feb till school start:
1/Travel the world to my heart content ( have enough saved to travel for months even years)
2/ experience different culture/religions...

Go visit China! The sights are incredible

Just started a new research job the week I got my acceptance. I will probably work here for most of the time up until class, the project we are working on is really awesome and is what I want to be working on as a doc. I get married in March! After that IDK....I've always dreamed of hiking the AT (or most of it), but I'll have to see where life is after March.

Chill and relax. Blow your money on hookers and coke.

It's straight Cs from here. Don't bother wasting your time trying to prepare for med school. Any minimal advantage that you have will get overridden by the end of 1st semester.
