how to ask DO for shadow

Hi Everyone,


I have been trying to find a DO to shadow

I called in the office today and talked to the nurse in his office.

She wasn't sure about whether the doctor offers shadowing opportunity so she talked to

the doctor, and the doc told the nurse that I could email him first (He gave his email

address)


So I'm wondering how I should ask him.. Should I introduce myself (my major..plans..etc)

and then ask if I could shadow him? or should i just be brief?

Hello Dr. ______

My name is ______ and I am a current pre-med interested in pursuing a career in osteopathic medicine. I would like to gain some insight and perspective on the career and was wondering if you would mind me spending some time shadowing your day to day activities. Please let me know how I could go about doing this, and if not perhaps you could direct me to colleagues that would be willing to help
