1- when do I send my transcripts to addsas so I know they will have them when the cycle opens on June 3rd? I called and asked if I could send them now but they said I cannot send them until the cycle opens up. However if I send it them then it might take time for processing and mailing. so when should I send my transcripts?

2- LOR. what is interfolio and how do I use it? I see a lot of people on here talking about doing it but I don't really understand what interfolio is compared to having your teacher upload the LOR the traditional way? Or how you use interfolio.

3- any other helpful advice for some applying a second time would be greatly appreciated.

4- Also, what out of state schools are friendly to California residents?

1. You can't send them until the cycle is open. When you start your app, each school you enter that you attended will produce a form that you need to take to your registrar when you request an official transcript be sent to AADSAS. Yes, it takes time for it to get to AADSAS and for them to process it, but the first batch doesn't go out for 4 or 5 weeks after the cycle opens. So, day one or two, get your forms to your registrar, then keep working on and perfecting your application. No need to submit it the first day, but you can get your transcripts on the way.

2. If you are in good communications with your letter writers, just have them do it the traditional way. When the cycle opens, get on it. You'll send them the link and it'll give them directions on what to do. Benefits of interfolio are than you can have them upload their letters now instead of waiting for the cycle to open and they'll be on file if you have to apply again.

3. Best advice, improve your application. If you haven't done anything, then at least make sure you can get better letters or work on your statement or something. Obviously, you want to apply as early as possible.

4. Some OOS options are the pricey privates.

This is about all I have time to write at the moment.

1-Jeffity pretty much nailed this one.

2- Interfolio lets you upload and store your letters. I used it because I didn't want my professors to take a sudden leave of absence (conference, etc) and not be able to upload my letters during the first few days. Also, another complication some may face is if they don't get in, and they can't get a hold of their original writers for the next cycle. My dentist who wrote my letter retired (I just found out) and is traveling abroad. Had I not gotten in, it would have been difficult for him to get another copy of that letter in for me this cycle.

3- I may not be best suited for this one.

4- I'm a California resident and I promptly received interview invites from Pitt, Case, Col, and Roseman around August. There were a good amount of CA residents at my Pitt interview. I cancelled the other 3. Though, when I interviewed at UCLA, many had also received interviews for Case, so I'd deem them OOS friendly too. Surprisingly, my state schools didn't pull through until January lol. I used the ADEA information to make these choices when I applied ( a good investment that'll save bundles in app fees!!). Also be aware that some "OOS-friendly" schools, like Creighton, are largely friendly only to neighboring states.

If I'm applying with a committee letter, is there still a benefit to using Interfolio?

My guess is no since you will be submitting 1 letter to AADSAS and that is pretty easy. Interfolio is great when you are trying to send multiple letters because you reduce the amount of matching forms from 4 to 1 and it's a lot easier to keep track of 1 than it is 4.

how do people know which batch they are in?

I've already applied and been accepted to D school but i nvr understood that 😕

And how many batches are there? Are there like 6 batches each separated by a month? Any way we can know for sure what dates correspond with each batch? Thanks!

the first batch usually gets sent out at the end of june.

after that, a batch is sent out every friday. if you keep track of that, you will know which batch you are in.

just have your app in by mid-aug to be competitive for most schools

I always thought this "batch" stuff was nonsense. I didn't submit my AADSAS until June 24 last cycle, and I received multiple interview invites among the very first people on SDN. Take it with a grain of salt, but I feel as long as you apply in June/early July, you're in good shape.

SDNitis.

Basically it gives you a mail out date after a few weeks and people here compare and people with the first date will call themselves "first batch" and those with the next matching date a week or two later will be "second batch" and so forth.

you pre-dents crack me up. You realize the VERY first batch and VERY 5th batch (for example) are identical in significance when it comes to "being early" becuas chances are, most schools are too busy to crack open those initial files and start the application. Alot of them wait until a good number of files have piled up (i.e more than just first batch). Remember, the time June arrives is the same time the new class is kicking off, they are busy.

And to answer some of ur neurotic questions:

1) you can't mail ur transcripts becaus you MUST first obtain the transcript matching forum (PDF file you print out from aadsas when application opens) to tag along with ur transcripts..... Without this, and its like going to the fast check-out aisle at ur local convenient store without having the laser bar-code.

2) try going to the interfolio website

3) huh? this is 2nd time ur applying? or your seeking advice from a 2nd time re-applicant.

4) do ur homework: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=635046

Batch absolutely does not matter as long as you get your stuff in by September. I had first-round interviews to each school, including to two Ivies, and my AADSAS wasn't fully complete (LOR's) until mid-August I believe.

Early is definitely important, but stressing about first, second, third batch is just SDN paranoia.

That pretty much sums it up.

That sounds about right haha..I completed my application in july and had many early interviews

UNLV, Washington and ASDOH are somewhat friendlier to Cali residents.

I agree with this, although Washington is pretty tough to get into if you are out of state. Among the students accepted to UW this year, I only know about 7-10 out of the 63 who are out of state.

I pretty much agree. Sure, it might help a little, especially if you're app is lacking a little. Early is obviously better, in general, if you're ready. But people do indeed buy into it too much and probably sacrifice portions of their app for the sake of hitting that submit button as fast as they can. If you're in with a complete application before September even, I think you're fine. Keep in mind, many schools don't look at applications right away. August is also peak DAT month. If you have you're DAT done and letters in, you're in good shape.

PS - You're statement would have been more powerful had you said August or September. But the message still stands.

something about the first sentence was extremely demeaning. K.

demeaning? someone's a little too sensitive...

and i completely agree with funkychicken..do your homework. this isn't top-secret information. take the time to research, and call schools... they will tell you when they start to review applications so you can plan your application out that way.

maybe not demeaning. a little cunty though, no need to get all superior to "us pre-dents"
