I'm going to college next year and I didn't do as well as I wanted to in high school but I really want to change that. I struggle with getting good a GPA. I'm really good at standardized testing like the SAT and ACT though. I've just never understood how some people pull 4.0's every semester. I've never gotten straight A's in my life. What should I do to be successful as a premed and get a good gpa? I just need to get a good gpa in college because it's so important for med school.

1. Don't do anything extracurricular until you have your academics figured out
2. Start off slow with relatively easy classes - no need to go full throttle until you have your study habits set
3. Ask for help early. The earlier you seek out a tutor or go to office hours or use khan academy or whatever, the better your grades will be
4. Figure out how you study best. Some people like to cram, some people need to do a bit every day, some people are in between. You need to determine what works best for you.
5. Don't worry about perfection. No one will care if you don't have a 4.0. Just do the best you can, learn from your mistakes, and move on.

get on a schedule. seriously. most people can wing it through college without scheduling their time, but it will lead to better grades and it's an invaluable skill as a medical student. take care of yourself. eat healthy. sleep. those things all matter, even though all premeds blow them off. LEARN during your science courses. your MCAT performance will reflect that. Don't simply pump and dump. save extra curricular activities till after your freshman year. focus on starting off strong. especially because those first classes you take are easier and will contribute to your science gpa.

mostly. don't listen to other premeds. none of them have any idea what they're talking about. study hard. don't freak out if you don't perform well, just make sure you're willing to evaluate what you did wrong and adjust your methods. scheduling your study time out will solve a lot of your problems.
