How to choose schools?

My home state doesn't have a dental school so anywhere I apply i'll be considered out of state. One thing I would like to know about a school before applying is if they let students place implants, as that is something I am interested in learning. How would I go about this?

Very few schools allow this. Most will just teach you the theory and let you practice on models.

I believe MW lets you potentially place implants. Creighton might as well.

Private schools that don’t typically have students specialize or have speciality programs are more likely to allow this than schools that do have specialty programs. Because you won’t have to refer patients to the specialty clinics. Implants are highly technical, and very expensive, so the stars need to align for you to be allowed to do this even at schools that might let you.

You can ask in an interview or during a tour with a student.

Be open to the idea that you will need to take a ton of CE or go to an implant heavy GPR/AEGD if this is truly something you want to do. (This is my plan)

Look into the schools that allow you to become in-state for tuition.
