Hey everyone, I live in Orlando, Florida and I'd really like to contact the admissions committee at UF to ask them a few questions about what my chances are and what I can do to improve my chances, but I don't know how to go about it.

Can you set up an appointment to talk to someone who is actually on the committee? What kind of questions can you ask? I don't know if it's rude to flat out ask, "would I get in with these stats."

Can you talk to them on the phone or is it better to meet them in person?

haha, wow i dont think you should ask them if you can get in with your stats. thats a really pointless meeting and they would think youre crazy for schedueling an appointment for that. Thats why theres an application process to SEE if youd get in.....
anyway, if you have a more legit question, like im worried about my application, do you have any suggestions as to what i can do? i was thinking about doing...x y or z, do you think that would help?/benefit me?
Is my DAT score competive for school? im a bit worried about it (ie- a certain section on the dat, or maybe ur PAT, AA or something), do you suggest i take it again? I feel as though my app is weak (even if you think its not) is there anything you suggest i do? etc etc.........
as for setting up an appointment with an actual adcom, im sure you can do it however i dont know how. I feel like when you call most dental schools, you get some sort general receptionist who acts like they know what theyre talking about but really dont. so just tell them you need to make an appointment, and if they say oh i can answer ur questions, tell them no u want to come in and meet with somebody who has more knowledge...

Double ouch!

I have always met with Dr. Sposetti when I wanted to ask questions, but I don't see why you can't just call her or email her. She is a nice person and I'm sure she would be very helpful with any questions you have. Since you live in Orlando, you may not want to waste the gas money and 1.5 hrs there and back to meet in person. I think a call would suffice just as well.

its actually a good idea that he/she calls in to talk to one because that way, the adcom can specifically pinpoint what is needed to be done to improve on the weaknesses...
we all can improve on EVERYTHING in our apps but adcoms will let you know what is most important to concentrate on

you can call in UF and they will tell you to improve on one thing and then you call harvard and they will tell you to improve on another thing so....it varies by each school therefore its important that u call

will just the act of you calling, and talking with someone, help your odds of scoring an interview?

or could it possibly annoy them?

im not really sure what you could talk about for that long, wouldent that make for an awkward 1 minute conversation?
