how to convince a friend

this is a weird post so here it goes...one of my best buddies came to me (cuz since i'm starting med school this year i'm now the official doctor--i'm sure you folks understand what i mean) and said he's always had "small white bumps on his penis" before being sexually active and now his girlfriend is getting on him about them...

well, thankfully for my vision he didn't show me the damage but i said maybe he should see a doctor...since it's clearly not an STD he has nothing to worry about but he won't go...i feel like i'm getting my first taste of the battles i'll be dealing with as a doctor and getting people to seek care...a) what do i do cuz he just won't listen and b) what the hell is growin on his little man?

Now I do realize that it can be something else this is my guess for what it is.

probably not std, its common to have small bumps on the penis, I forget the name of the condition. if you want him see a doctor, tell him that they are genital warts and they are contagious and he needs to go to the doc to get them removed.

actually..

tiny bumps on the penis, analogous to pimples are normal. However, on the TIP of the penis, it can be a sign of penis cancer. haha..drkoop.com. Hope that helps =D

I think there is a condition called Scrotal / Penile cysts.

Are they hard lumps? Or just white spots?

If they are similar to cyst like things, they are completely benign and are found in maybe 10% of the male population. Normally they occur more so on the scrotum, but also can go up to the penis. He could go to a dermatologist and have them excised very easily.

As far as STD's the only other thing is to consider transmition not only with vaginal intercourse but also oral. It's probably just a pimple like the other guy said though. Ofcourse one should go to a doctor to get a profesional evaluation
