I've been fortunate enough to have received 8 DO IIs this cycle and 3 acceptances. Currently I am slated to attend ACOM unless KCU accepts me in which case I will be attending there and closing my cycle down. In the event that KCU says no, I would like some opinions on the remaining IIs that I have. I have IIs to PNWU, UIW, and RVU-UT currently. Would any of those be worth attending? If so would they be worth matriculating to over ACOM? Thanks!

Sounds like you have made a decision already. If you would attend any of the other schools over ACOM then you should go to the interview. If not then wait for KCU. I cancelled all of my other II including ACOM after my first few acceptances. None listed will offer significantly more than the others so it boils down to specifics for you which are different for every person. I also figured once I made my decision it wasn't fair to hold interviews at 6 other schools and to let other candidates have a shot too...something else to think about.

I definitely agree with not holding spots I was just wondering if any of those three were worth attending over ACOM or not. KCU is my top school so if they come back next Friday with an acceptance this will be a mute point haha

Very true. This is a tough time because deposits are due so those of us fortunate enough to have multiple acceptances struggle to make sure we choose the right school. Ultimately I decided to choose tuition as a big factor because opportunities at most DO schools are so Similar and reflects the students and not necessarily the school. I also factored in mandatory attendance as well hence declining to interview at ACOM. From what I understand it seems like it's a pretty good environment and the current students seem to like it. I think asking specific advice within the school specific thread might be able to bring more light to the specifics within each program. Congrats on the acceptances btw!

Thank you!! It is hard and I'm really hoping that KCU says yes and I don't have to decide whether or not to go to other interviews. May I ask where you've decided to attend?

Unfortunately I would say go to every interview until you have an acceptance, I know it can get expensive

what if you have multiple interviews? and multiple acceptances and have upcoming deadlines to hold a seat but want to go to an II months ahead?

This is pretty simple logic

You put the deposit down on the acceptance you want to go to most of all acceptances you currently have at this point. You then attend any II at a school that you would prefer to go to over your current deposited acceptance.

I really don't understand why people struggle with this concept so much..

Then pay the deposit to the school you want to go to the most out of your acceptances, and then compare any future II to that school and only interview at schools you would go to over that school.

what are your main reasons for wanting to attend ACOM or KCU if you are accepted?

There are a lot of factors that should influence your choices. Curriculum? Distance from home? Class attendance mandated? Dress code? Quality of clinical education????

If you're not from the PacNW or CA, I don't PacNW is for you.

UIW seems to have their ducks in a row, and everything is bigger in TX, so I choose them > RVU-UT. There's also apparently a substantial anti-DO bias in UT among PDs, so don't go looking for residencies there, even though the state is gorgeous.

Appreciate the feedback Goro! Can you give your quick thoughts on KCU? I plan on matriculating, but always appreciate your opinion on schools.

I have a very high opinion of JCU. Any school that can get grads into Derm at the Mayo clinic is doing something right.

Shill alert: there is ~1/15 chance that I am on Faculty at KCU.

I feel very fortunate to have been accepted to KCU and plan to matriculate in the fall! Wanted to say thank you for all the advice you've given myself and the rest of us SDNers this cycle it's been very helpful.
