Hi, I am a high school senior, and I have an interview at a pharmacy school. My question is how should I dress? Should I wear a suit and tie, or should I wear khakis with a button up shirt, or shirt I just wear a shirt and tie?

I am HS student as well 🙂 What kind of program are you applying for? 6 years? I am wearing a navy suit with brown shoes and keeping everything conservative nothing flashy. I would not wear khakis. and yes, shirt + TIE.

A full suit is appropriate.. Full business dress

that some interviewers might not look favorably on bright shirts and ties, so classic colors and patterns are best

I wore a pink shirt and pulled it off quite well

at the crazily uncontrolled rate pharmacy schools are currently expanding, you will soon be able to pull it off w combo of beach t shirt + short + sandals/flip flops... lol 😉 jk

Thanks everyone for responding. I was planning on wearing a black suit with a blue or very dark red shirt.

I am applying for Early Acceptance to LECOM in Erie, Pennsylvania. What did you apply for?

Lol you're honestly right with all of these new schools opening up. jk

you want to make sure you are serious for the school, you want the school to take you seriously, if you are a guy, shirt, tie, khakis, oxfords, jacket (not the nike jacket...). Make sure you look clean, shaven and ready to answer any questions!

Just so that people know. While you may be able to have a good interview and be accepted with the described dress, I have to say that Khakis are not enough for many interviewers. With even the best version of this outfit, the thought I (and many of my colleagues, as we have been discussing this topic this week) will have is that you don't understand interview dress, aren't taking us seriously, or think you are too "cool" for a suit.

does the black suit have to be buttoned up for males?
Is it still count as business formal if I unbutton the suit but just button up the vest underneath? Are vests even allowed?
