How to find an optometrist to shadow?

Hi, I'm looking to fulfil my requirement of shadowing an optometrist and thereby attaining the hours and letter of recommendation from an optometrist. Any suggestions on how i would do that?
Should I just approach my own optometrist?
Can anyone share their experience, it would really help!

I approached the optometrist I had been seeing for 10 years. He was really nice about it and I even got a job and became the lead opthalmic tech after a year. Just let them know you're genuinely interested in the field.

I messaged one of the optometrist I used to work for since I had a great time working with her! She was really nice and let me shadow with her at different locations and I ended up shadowing another eye doctor while I was at one of the offices too. I know some people from my university who found shadowing opportunities through their POPS organization as well.
