I'm trying to find summer research because my other summer plan fell through, and now the deadline for all the summer research programs have passed so can't apply to those.
I'm going to try email some research faculties, but what exactly should I say in the email? just along the line of "i'm so and so and i'm interested in your research, and i'm wondering if you have an open position?" should I include my CV in the email?

Also I go to school in east coast and i'm planning to go back home to west coast, so I'm gonna try to find research in the area. It's harder cause I can't really visit the place in person.
At this point, I dont really care whether it's paid or non-paid, I'm looking for the experience and exposure to the specialty, although if I can get paid it would be nice. Is there still funding opportunities available this late?

Anyone has any experience about this?

Do you have any contacts from the West Coast that you shadowed in undergrad or from any other connections?

I am going back to my hometown (Atlanta) doing research this summer with someone I shadowed. We discussed most of the project via email/phone and the lab sent me a packet with articles related to what I am doing this summer. Then I ended up making one trip back to Atlanta to visit friends/family and finalize the proposal that I had written here with them (it took us about 2 hours to edit it and fill out all the paperwork for the grant).

Not sure if this will help but if you can find someone it is possible to plan for summer via phone/email.
