how to get registered as a dental assistant in texas?

hey
m a foriegn trained dentist and i want to get registered as a dental assistant in texas so that i can volunteer in any clinic as a deental assistant....can anybody pplease tell me what is the procedure to get registered as s dental assistant in texas?do i have to take any course or will the courses taken in my BDS be sufficient?do i need to give any exam...please do give me the details if anybody knows about this.....
also,i need a small advice....which one in the following things will improve my resume in a better way....shadowing a dentist? or volunteering as a dental assistant? or working as a dental hygienist?

To be a registered DA you have to do a course and get registered, your BDS wont help. But, you only need this if you are planning to take xrays. If you are volunteering or shadowing then you don't need to be registered.

You can choose either volunteering or shadowing, whatever the dentist allows you to do but you cant be a hygienist,as Tx board needs you to have a 2 yr associate degree.

Do some research work if you can.This will also add some weight to your resume
