I'm not sure the name of the airport, but it is in Greensboro about 20-30 minutes from Wake.

Greensboro (GSO)is probably your best bet. It's probably 25-30 miles away from Wake.

I flew into Piedmont Triad International (GSO)from OHare on United. Then, there's a booth near the baggage claim area called "Airport Express." They will take you to a hotel (or to Bowman gray) for something like 25 bucks, not a bad deal since it's like 30-45 minutes away.

Thanks, folks. 🙂

No prob. Hope you like it there... I just find the south a bit too different from what I'm used to.

the school is really tech oriented. also you need to do some sort of a thesis. duke also has this requirement. is this something that north carolina schools do?

I don't know why WFU has a thesis requirement... I heard some students start to do it early and are really enthused, while some don't really care for it. I did find the school very tech-oriented and I thought that was amazing.

They give all their undergrads a laptop!! Do they do that for med students?

I think the thesis at Duke is much more rigorous. They are doing some hard core work and are expected to produce. the students at wake seemed apathetic about their thesis. Of course Duke gives a full year (3rd year) to reseach whereas at wake you'd have to fit it in your summers.

Yes, they do give undergrads *free* laptops, plus an upgrade during junior year. I know because my younger brother applied there last year, and thought that was really cool (he didn't get in, was waitlisted, and ended up choosing Wash U. of the schools he got into).

But it's true that nothing is really free at that kind of tuition ($25,000 I think for undergrad).

Not that it really matters but the lap tops at Wake are not really free- everyone has the same one because they recquire that you but it or lease it from the school (many students lease it and then buy it in the end). I was accepted at Wake and I have a friend who goes there.

SMW-

I'll be applying for Class of 2007, but now I'm working in research at Wake Forest. I see the students quite often and the majority of them are very cordial and in good spirits. A friend of mine in school here said that there are still a few kinks in the new curriculum, but for the most part it is working well for the students. To add to previous posts, from my understanding the laptop and palm pilot are included in tuition. Maybe I've been misled. Well, best of luck on your interview SMW.

yeah... if you are an undergrad at WFU.. u have to pay for it... Just like at Carolina or anyother places.... But if you are a graduate student, pursuing a PhD, then you get a high tech like computer, with flat screen and all.. (not sure if that is only for BioEngineering grad students (this person I know)..), not sure about med students thou.. they had labtops when I was there and glanced-in on one of there classes... most likely they had to pay for it....
