I am Senior this year and currently in the application process.

When I applied, I had the intention of being a full-time student for both semesters of this year; however, I only require 6 more credits to complete my degree. I am the president of a student-group, involved in another group, and a student-athlete at a Div. 1 school. It seems that I will also be increasing the number of hours I will be working also. With all this on my plate, I am beginning to wonder whether I should become a part-time student for my second semester (7-10) credits. This would save some money (which is not a issue) and allow me to focus on work, my roles a leader in my student groups, and my last season as an athlete.

Do you think medical schools will view this negatively? Should I just throw in a non-rigorous course to get myself to become a full-time student?

Any thoughts on this will help. Thank you.

I don't think medical schools get any information about your spring semester grades/courses unless you update them on it. Usually by the time you have to send them your transcript you are already accepted, so I doubt being part-time would matter.

Thanks, for the help. I wasn't sure if they check up on your second semester grades/classes.

What about fall semester grades?

right

many people choose courses such as calisthenics/pilates all the time

If you get good grades, send them an update in a letter of interest. If the grades aren't strong, no need to update the schools.

Assuming completion of your degree as intended, being a part-time student for the last semester shouldn't make a difference.

Thanks everyone. I think I will be part-time next semester! Just gotta double check with my advisor
