Now of course you return and refund if it was a mistake on the pharmacy. But in other cases do you tell the pt to call back when the RXM is in?

For example what if someone says we gave them a med they don't take anymore and they realize this 2 days after we sold them it, and there was literally no way we would have known they didn't take it anymore? Full refund without talking with the RXM first?

No refund if they already picked it up. If they're not taking it anymore they shouldn't have picked it up and not my problem if they sent someone else who doesn't have a clue. Even without counseling I always tell people what they are paying for when I check them out and if they call and say they don't want the meds then I tell them to take them to the sheriff office where they have a medication drop box. In extenuating circumstances we will give them a gift card for their copay so we can keep the ins money.

One of those things where customers have their heads up their asses and don't take ownership of their lives. You can't possibly expect someone else to care about your own money more than you.

Personally if they realize something's up soon after, then that's one thing. 2 days or more, fly a kite

I don't take anything back unless its our fault. The best ones are the wives that call and say there stupid husband picked up a med that was $200 but we don't want it. I just tell her sorry ma'am can't take it back and thanks for getting us closer to the budget lol

It's not an absolute rule. When I was RXM...if it was a regular patient and they have a big profile...sure...I"ll take back their unwanted promethazine DM and whatnot. If it's something that is like 200$...most likely no. Use some judgement. A bottle of 1000s metformin probably costs like 5$ for walgreens...if taking back #60 pills means that this customer with a huge profile will come back then it was fine with me. honestly, these cases don't come up that often for it to be a problem. I'll say these problems come up like 2-3 times a month.

Just do what you want.

Unlikely to agree with a refund of oxycodone if the patient wanted the blues or greens

once u start accepting returns and other customers in line hear about it, they'll bring all their dumplings to u. / if they picked it up and left the store and have no use for it? contact DEA for proper disposal of unused medications! / if the product is defective? call the manufacturer for replacement! / you're allergic to it? show us an epipen script and we'll fill it!
