I haven't taken the DAT yet, but I just finished taking the LSAT. Here are some reading comp tips my prep class taught me:
- ALWAYS read with a pencil or pen, that way your eyes don't lose track of the material.
- Highlight any numerical data or any definition; they might just show up on a question.
- After EVERY paragraph, stop for a few seconds, and write down on the side what that paragraph means to the passage as a whole; why did the author write it?
- Never rush, because when you rush, you may skip material and end up re-reading, which is a waste of time. Read a a slow, but brisk pace.
- No matter what, BECOME interested in the topic at hand. One cannot begin to understand the issue if there is no interest. Make yourself (in sake of your DAT score) interested.
Hope that helps.
