So I took the MCAT twice. The first time I got an 18Q in April of 2006 and then a 22R in January of 2007. I studied for 6 months for the second time, and I improved my sciences quite a bit, however my verbal went down. I got a 6 on VR the first time, and then a 4 on VR the second. I did verbal everyday and I was scoring on the Kaplan tests 9 to 10, and on AAMC tests I would get 9s. I also did ExamKrackers verbal and I would get 9s on those tests. I don't know what happened on the January MCAT, and I'm thinking of taking it again but only if I figure out how to study differently. Any ideas?

what is ur current strategy on verbal? What has worked for me(i've gone from 6's to 9's and 10's) is just sticking to the main point the author is trying to get across....just keep practicing and try sticking to the author's main arguement and see where that gets you....i myself am aiming for a 10 on verbal, hopefully I can get it!!
Just keep going and u'll pull it up!!

Same thing happened to me, was scoring 9s...got a 6 on April 16th.

So strange. I know it can't be true...but, it seems like the more I practive VR, the worse I do. Granted I have only been doing the kaplan section tests verbal, my score has gone from 9 to 8 to 8 to 7 to 6 to 5 today on Kaplan FL 8. WTF? I am finally doing better in the sciences, but now I have this VR issue on my hands and the test is in a little over three weeks!

ur possibly burning urself out on verbal. how often are u taking these verbal practice exams? perhaps u shud change it to doing 3 passages every day and supplement that with reading economist, atlantic, new yorker, or just a really dense book that interests you. also, i reccomend TPR verbal workbook. i have kaplan, ek 101, and TPR and ive found that TPR is closest to my aamc practice exam scores for verbal.
