I'm going to be writing my exam in early September for the second time...but I want to travel to Brussels for a week to visit a friend in August. I wrote sample test last Wednesday... which is also my second time writing it and the last time I took the sample test was last summer in 2015. I am wondering if I can take this score as predictive of my actual MCAT score and to see if I'll be prepared enough to travel before my test.

How should I interpret this score if I'm writing the sample test for the 2nd time??

1st attempt:
83% / 75% / 90% / 75%
Overall: 80%

2nd attempt (1 year later):
97% / 72% / 93% / 88%
Overall: 87.8%

Is this new score indicative of how I may perform on the actual MCAT or is it an inflation of my previous attempt? I didn't recognize most of the passages (only 2 passages from the entire exam were borderline familiar to me), and answer choices still stumbled me. Thoughts????

great job. There's some spreadsheet that can predict your score on here, if you can find it.

Also just curious as to why you are retaking, I'm pretty sure you killed the real exam if you got 80% on the official fl the first time around

Thx for the reply, I've been checking the spreadsheet and it's plenty helpful, but most scores are from 1st time takers so I want to hear from the SDN community whether they think this 2nd attempt at the sample test is predictive.

i ended up freezing up and anxiety got the best of me so my first score wasn't good...i've been exercising some coping strategies so hopefully it'll change this time around

I had the same issue as you except it was only 2 months for me and I went from a 77% to a 92%. From what I'm seeing people usually score +-3 points from when they retake the exam, usually 2-3 in the opposite direct. I can let you know when I get my score but I think you can trust it to an extent.

yeh I think I'll take it with a grain of salt - I think taking the sample test the second time didn't make me as worried when writing it as it did the first time. I'm in a similar boat with you about how much we can trust it.

i'm curious...your previous score looks great (lot better than I did lol) ...why are u rewriting? Are you planning on upping the CARS score? If you are...do you have any tips for me in that section??? I've been struggling wit it as u can tell from my sample test scores

Thanks. Upping CARS was a big goal since my baseline for AAMC was a 127 for my first MCAT. I did get a 131 and 94% when I retook the scored/sample and It was primarily because I slowed down when reading CARS. Got a 88% on CARS 2 for the first time so I think I improved.

1) I paused at the end of each paragraph and related to the main idea
2) I had an internal conversation in my head about the author/author's argument critiquing it and insulting the author.
3) I would relate the author's argument to things in real life that made sense to me (using analogies) - this is how I got better at the Reasoning Beyond the Text)

Note: I feel like crap about the CARS I just took so idk if I actually improved. I think I scored a few points higher but probably didn't get a killer CARS score.

EDIT: I am retook because I thought I bombed the test so I signed up for the next one and by the time I got my score I was scoring so much higher on my practice tests. Also, I want to go to TX schools and I'm OOS. My dream school is U michigan.
