I heard that UoP likes to interview/accept students who show a lot of interest in their school. Because I'm from Pennsylvania, and saving up for future admissions expenses (interviews/deposits), I don't exactly have the money to fly out and tour the school and meet the admissions people. But I still want them to know that I am very interested in their school. How should I do this?

How do you know that they are 1st choice if you haven't visited the school or invest time and money in flying out there to talk with the faculty and students. I heard from some people that interview is a great opportunity to meet the faculty and tour the campus to see if you really like it or not. I have heard from some people that they have changed their minds about some school that they thought it was #1.

Put it this way, if they give you interview then that means they like you. It is up to you to show them if the school is your #1 choice or not.

It is hard to show that the school is your 1st choice without going to interview and expressing your interest in the school.

Good luck!!

If you're lucky, they'll flat out ask you in the interview! I had one interviewer ask me that: So what's your number one school, and why? Talk about awkward! However, had that school been my number one school, I would have jumped all over it instead of offering "Well, I'm trying to avoid ranking schools before I've had the opportunity to see what each one has to offer. I don't want my decision to be influenced by things I've read on the internet, but rather what I've experienced first hand." Bullet sufficiently dodged, but still an awkward moment.

Also, if it doesn't come up in the interview, you can always bring it up yourself: "I've been telling my mom that UOP is my #1 school, but she's afraid for me living so far from home. What can I tell her about the area so she's not as nervous when I move out here?"
