I’m trying to figure out how to categorize an experience on AMCAS where my involvement has been split across several roles. In total, I’ve accumulated 100+ hours, including paid shifts, volunteer service, serving as a teaching assistant, and attending trainings and organizational meetings. Each component feels too small/unimportant to list on its own, but collectively the experience reflects a 3 year involvement with the organization. I’m debating whether to aggregate everything into a single (Extracurricular?) activity or whether any of these roles should be listed separately or possibly omitted altogether. TIA 🙂

You are best off having a smaller number of experiences that you can dive deeply into than to spread It out into multiple different categories it "technically" falls under.

Without knowing more of the details, I am inclined to recommend that you list it as one activity under the name of the organization.

Frankly... it just doesn't sound like this activity is that important? Agree you should lump it all together, but unless you have some sort of significant leadership role within the organization or administrative responsibilities, I don't really care about an activity where you spent half of your time in "meetings." I might in fact just exclude those 50 hours and lump everything else together under either paid clinical or teaching, and leave it at that.

But the fact that it's so challenging to even figure out how to classify this, I think belies that this isn't a very strong activity particularly compared to the other activities on your application.

On the practical side, I agree with the above considerations.

For the OP, consider that your work/activities should highlight activities that confer value to your preparation for the career, not a documentary of everything you did (that's checkboxing). Are all the activities worthy of a "most meaningful experience" explanation? I know you are limited to 3 essays in the AMCAS application, but try writing one for each of these experiences anyway (since this is the pre-application period... you have the time to write out your thoughts to prepare for interview questions). What responsibilities are the most important for screeners and adcoms to know? Hold back from throwing spaghetti against the wall by listing "everything" you have above.

Otherwise, an "omnibus/catch-all" description of your activity just feels unfocused. I don't know until you write it, but screeners don't have the time to plow through everything in the work/activities section. Plan to expand on other responsibilities if your secondary essays and other consistent interview themes (like the "strengths/weaknesses" or "diversity" questions) are better places to show your attributes and competencies.
