excellent guidance by youth.
may i add, its a good idea to take time off - hours, days even weeks - to sit and think about who YOU really are and write that down. once your SOP is written try reading it in front of the mirror and evaluate its effectiveness yourself.

Thank you Bombaybds for pointing it out. Yes, that's what I call as a 'write-edit-add-remove-revise-polish' part! Be sure of what you have written, should also be backed up by concrete and personal examples, and be specific since no generalities are allowed. The essay should accurately represent you. To check overall structure of your essay, you may conduct a first-sentence check. Write down the first sentence of every paragraph in order. you may read through them one after another and ask yourself the following: Would someone, who was reading only the first sentences of your essay, still understand exactly what you've tried to explain? Do the first sentences express your point of view? Do the thoughts flow naturally? self-evaluation really helps to judge effectiveness of your essay.

They're right.
Essays are the last things we finish on our application package which is NOT good.
It took me 2months to write, re-write, re re write and modify mine
I used to pen down my thoughts about myself , close my laptop and read it after a couple of days and make changes all over again. 😱
It helps. POLISH it well !
