I think all you need for the ADA is permission by a dental school (Dean of Admissions maybe) saying that you are trying to do better on the DAT and that you are very interested attending dental school. Look it up on the website, its there somewhere.

Thanks in advance

I haven't done it yet but I know you need an official rejection letter from a dental school in order to be able to take it a 4th time. You know what you need to do, call the ADA.

some time ago I was reading the rules about this... One of the things you have to have is a proof that you applied to dental schools and were rejected, and one of the recommendations they gave you is to retake the DAT

I apologize for butting in, but I have already filed a petition to take it the 4th time, so how do I know if I got approved? it would be nice to call them, but most of the representatives are so clueless and would tell me to refer to the "guide", which is kind of annoying...lol

@talib: basically, I just wrote a letter and show them a copy of my rejection letter that I got from one of the dental school. I hope that helps 🙂

I had to do this also. When you pay for the test, ADA verifies you're eligible (or not) to sit for the DAT. They email you a letter stating you need special permission to take it more than 3 times. What I did was email the person that sent the message, asking her what I needed to submit and if I could do so electronically. She only replied the word 'yes'. I emailed her my confirmation email from submission of my AADSAS app and in a day or two I received a new letter with the go ahead to schedule my exam (after 24 hours). Hope this helps!!
