I'm having a hard time improving in verbal and I am stuck at a score of about 7. I feel like everytime I keep making the same mistakes because I don't know how to accurately review passages that I have done to identify what I am doing wrong. Because of that I'm probably using the wrong reasoning skills over and over. I think my biggest problem is that I try to actively read and understand the passage, but most of the time I'm thinking "I have no idea what this is saying" while I'm reading it. Any suggestions?
I have the ek 101 passage book and the princeton review verbal workbook, I just don't know how to improve and learn from my mistakes. Thanks!

I always just skimmed the passage. I would fly through it as fast as possible, and then go back and read in detail only for questions that sent me to a specific area. This lets you focus your time on the details that are important. Also, look at which types of questions you're getting wrong (ie retrieval, roman numerals, analogy, etc.) as well as why you get them wrong (missed a small detail, didn't know what a word meant, rushed through it, etc.) then keep track of what trips you up most. Then you can work on those specific areas. If you're rushing you can spend less time reading. If you're missing details you can spend more time on questions that make you look back at the passage, etc. it's just all about figuring out what's holding you back.
