Howdy.

Anyone know of any programs/types of volunteering that would show commitment to primary care? I have one year before I apply and I'm currently working at a free health clinic and I've shadowed IM and FM doctors. Am I missing anything?

If you've shown a commitment to that clinic, you should be fine. How much time do you have put in?

What does primary care mean to you? You need to express what it means and how your participation as a physician will add to both the general good as well as the individuals for which you care. If your experiences validate your contention, it will be accepted. There is no special primary care activity that does this.

About 3 hours a week since last summer. So 150 hours roughly?

Cool 👍 thanks!

If you emphasize primary care in your application, be damn sure you have a well thought out and believable response to "Primary Care medicine is one of the lowest paying specialties in medicine - what are your thoughts on this in terms of the volume of debt you will accrue as a medical student?" It came up at one of my interviews and it caught me off guard.

My answer worked at every place I interviewed! At least I was accepted...
