I have two options. I could either participate in the Cleveland Clinic Summer Program, which would offer 270 shadowing hours, or I could get certified as an EMT. I do not have a preference and both sound equally as interesting to me. Which looks better for medical school admissions?

depends on how confident I was in my app.

If I was positive I was getting in, cleveland clinic
If I wasn't very sure then EMT. And EMT has a job even if they don't get in med school. No one pays people to shadow at the cleveland clinic for a living

Only get certified as an EMT if u can see urself working as one. 270 hours of shadowing is excessive for a med school app.

If you can network within the clinic, get some face to face patient experience, then it’s better to go with that.

If you already have >40 hours of shadowing, I would pass on the Cleveland clinic. I also would not just get an EMT certification just to improve my application. ADCOMs will see the you got an EMT very and didodo anything with it.

What does this leave? Be a 20-something and actually enjoy your summer!

Do you have something more interesting to do or a hobby to pursue?
