I have been preparing for CBSE for a while now. Initially, I planned out my steps and scheduled the progress I needed to achieve. I was very enthusiastic. I would wake up early and go to school to study for extra hours. I also tried to make the most of my weekends by studying as much as possible.

However, recently, I feel like I'm running out of steam. It's not that I've been overworking myself or burned out—I’ve been getting good sleep and making time to relax and do things I enjoy after school and on weekends. But somehow, I feel less productive when it comes to studying.

I’d love to hear from those of you who have taken the CBSE and scored well about how you dealt with the challenges of preparation. Here are some specific questions:

  • How many extra hours did you study outside of school per day/week?
  • How did you stay motivated and keep your spirits high?
  • How did you improve your self-discipline?
  • What helped you the most throughout the long process of preparing for CBSE?
Thank you so much for all the encouragement, mentorship, suggestions, and tips!

Reminding yourself of the goal of doing OMFS, this is the ONLY way that you can achieve that goal

Find other students studying for it, it helps so much to be working towards something together, it can get lonely.

- mostly studied over the school breaks 6-8 hours a day. Probably 2 hours max during school period.
- nothing special. Made sure to get in exercise each day.

Running out of steam is completely normal. When this happened to me, i just took 2-3 off or light studying and rested. When i take breaks, i refresh and become more motivated afterwards. Its ok not to be studying all the time

Not coming from money and the desire to make money. An interest in OMS and anesthesiology was also a driving force. The dilution of general dentistry is motivation as well.

I did about 1-2 hours per school day, and then ~6-8 on weekend days.

I would study in the library. Helped me study. Easy to study when everyone around is also studying.

Work out, sleep well, and eat well. Those help keeping discipline up.

UWorld is by far the best, and most fun resource to use.

I heard the word “festooning” yesterday, and I got the shivers.
To be fair you probably do/know more about complete dentures than most GPs if you do all on X cases.
