how to study for biochemistry?

the kaplan TEXT seems to be going into so much detail as compared to the kaplan VIDEOS.
im sure that memorizing 1st aid isnt enough for biochemistry.
what is an effective way to study it?

Memorizing FA is MORE than enough for biochem. Be able to recognize the clinical presentation of the biochemical disorders (enzyme deficiencies, vitamin deficiencies, etc.) You need to step away from the TCA cycle drawing. Make some flashcards with the presentations of clinically-relevant biochem from FA on one side and the disorder and treatment if there is any on the other. Learn them.

dont bother, if ur exam is anything like mine ull have maybe 5 biochem questions...2 of them being retarted hand drawings that you dont know what they're asking...complete waste of time going over biochem

I have been going through FC biochem and it seems fairly intense. Is it safe to say that it goes into much more detail than is needed for step 1?

I think knowing what's in First Aid and questions is the way to go. If you're having any trouble remembering them, Picmonic helped me with the biochem inborn errors of metabolism and storage diseases.
