Hey, everyone! This is the first week of the semester, and I'm trying to stay on top of my studies and study everyday. What's the best way to study? Should I study for whatever class I have that day, or should I go to class and then just study for tomorrow's class so I can be prepared? Any recommended study schedules? How long should I study for every class? Here's my class schedule:

Monday: Calculus (8am-8:50), Physics (9am-9:50), Env. Toxicology(10-10:50)
Tuesday: Calculus (8am-8:50), Cell Biology (12:30-1:45)
Wednesday: (same as Monday's)
Thur: (same as Tue.)
Friday: Env. Tox. (10am-10:50), Physics (9am-9:50)

Is this your second semester? I feel like everyone's study style is different. For me I studied between classes or a few hours after they ended each day. You can better gauge if you should study for the next day or what you learned each day. I'd focus on harder classes more often than the classes you fell confident about though obviously.

Reviewing difficult material the day you learn it will help though in my opinion, and just skimming over it in the book the day before lecture goes over it keeps you from being lost

Really depends on you and how you retain information. I find actively taking notes in class is the easiest way to retain information, so even when you review later on, you'll find that you already know most of the material already. I usually podcast and review every class at the end of every week to refresh the material.

Throughout a variety of psychology courses in college, I was taught that the best way to retain information (changing it from short-term memory to long-term memory) is to go over the material again in the first 24-48 hrs of receiving the information. If you don't then it will be a lot more difficult to recall the information you learned weeks ago from class.
And when you do go over the material, you don't need to spend hours and hours studying. Just even 5 minutes during the first 24-48 hrs will be super beneficial to retain the information. So before you go to bed each night, at least review the notes from that day and then go to sleep. Good luck! (Of course for the Calc class I recommend doing math problems every day/every other day so you don't get rusty or slow....)

Understand and integrate the concepts by looking at the big picture and seeing how things relate with each other. Memorization will only get you so far.
