Hi, New to this forum, just gazing through I noticed a lot of cvs pharmacists complaining about working there. I understand cvs is a bull**** company, with inadequate staffing, and unreasonable expectations. Here are some blunt pointers that help me survive working here and even make it a somewhat enjoyable experience. When I first came to my current store, QP was on average 20-25 pages long. Now we are a store of excellence and I won the paragon award 2 years ago.
1. Get rid of the narc heads. Tell them you only fill 1 day early, No management figure is going to give you a hard time about this. My 1 day early rule resulted in an enormous drop in c2 prescriptions. this frees up a lot of time.
2. Make techs do all the calls pharmacist are supposed to do.
3. Don't pay attention to any of the bull**** metrics. When a store visit happens, talk to the regional manager about how great your supervisor is and how much he has helped you grow into a better manager. Bull**** lines like these go along way into giving you leeway with your sup.
4.Get rid of the trash. Make sure you get quality customers in your store. A quality customer is thankful, grateful, and laid back.(older white females, educated youth, asians, illegal immigrants). I feel lower class whites (white trash, trailor trash) and black females are the worst customers. And need to be removed. After one complaint or insult from these degenerates, I ban them from my store. They can complain all they want, I just tell my sup their demeanor was threatening and compromised the safety of my staff.
5.myschedule is bull****, Just make sure you are overstaffed from 3pm to 6pm by under staffing the first 3 hours of the day.
6.Make sure your lead techs understand inventory.
7.During rush hour, the pharmacist should help manage QT.
8.And most importantly, hire the right people. The best techs are the ones who are relatively smart but had a kid in high school and never got anywhere in life. They usually are single moms that really need the money but have no skills for advancement. They very rarely call out, and stay with the company for many years despite low wages.
