Hello everyone,

I heard that Dental Schools limit the number of prereqs that a student can take at a cc or they reject those completely. One thing is for sure, they prefer that these classes are taken at a 4 year school.

How would any pre-med (biology) major transfer then without taking these classes? Aren't you messing up your chances by doing so? Or do you just retake all classes at a 4 year?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

It depends on the school. Some say none of your credits but most put limits on the amount you can do. Each school makes that choice and you will just have to check with each one you apply to.

So how do you transfer then? It's impossible to transfer from CC to Four year as a bio major without taking these classes...

Well again it depends on the school you want to go to.

For instance Midwestern University-AZ has no limits on community college credits. Because of this you can apply no matter where your pre-requisites come from.

Tufts on the other hand will not accept any community college course work. So if you want to apply there you will need to retake your pre-requisites.

UCLA has a limit on the number of CC credits you can take. So you will need to be careful on how many of your classes are from CC.

I understand, thank you for the reply. That means you can always "make up" for it by retaking the pre reqs at a 4 year?

Yeah so if you want to go to Tufts. You can retake all of your pre-reqs at a 4 year and those will count and not your community college credits.
