Hey I've taken a big slump my sophomore year. Freshman year, 3.2 both semesters, and sophomore year, I've gotten a 2.3 my first semester and second semester, I've managed to bring it back upto a 3.8. My main GPA so far is 3.1 and cGPA (1 year of chem, 1 semester of bio) is 3.3. I don't have any research experience, and it's hard getting one now that my GPA's pretty bad.

How can I improve my situation? I'll probably have to do well the next 2 years, do very well on the MCAT, and maybe to a SMP. For now, what are some things to do to improve my app?

you're not doing so bad! i graduated with a 3.3, got a 38Q MCAT and got in my first try

just keep them grades up, do one or two strong ECs, work on getting some research in and you're golden, probably won't even need that SMP

sounds like you already know what you need to do 🙂

Don't worry about a SMP at this point! You still have years of college left. Since you already recognize your weak point, focus on your GPA now and don't bank on fixing it later.

Also, moving to "What are my chances?" and marking as MD. Let me know if you want "MD&DO"

Earning a 3.8 cGPA is a very nice start. Keep up the good work.
