How tough is it to open your own pharmacy?

How hard would it be competing with the other big chains? Is it close to impossible opening up a brand new pharmacy outside of a rural area?

Like any other independent business, opening it is the easy part. Keeping it open is the hard part, and it's almost impossible without tapping into some kind of niche market.
