To all those who scored better the second or third time around, did you retake the practise tests? Focus more on the content? what did you do differently?

I see that some have expressed concern on practise tests vs the real exam. How would you(retakers who did well) circumvent this problem?

Me for example, I sacrificed eveything this summer, retook all the practise tests I took a year earlier, was consistantly scoring in the lower 30's and still messed up on the real thing.

Its funny that I came out of the centre with the confidence I have after taking a college exam in which I know I did well.

Im soo 🙁 Miserable!!!

Ur suggestions will be wholeheartedly appreciated!

HI! Yes they are very useful especially if you've taken the tests several months before... I have done that for my AUG retake and the average I scored on these retakes were indicative of my own preparedness and actual score... So I recommend throwing in new tests along with the test you've taken so that you can "fool" yourself... honestly you won't remember the questions at all... hope that helps...

I think they're useful because they let you understand HOW the MCAT asks questions, and I think understanding the HOW is more important than understanding the answers to those questions. There are discernible patterns - granted, that'll only take you so far: you need to study content. But if you can understand what the MCAT is trying to test you can get a good score.

Taking practice exams is only second to knowledge of the material when it comes to your score.

You have to take new practice tests every time. Taking the same practice exam does nothing for you.

quit retaking your practice exams. that makes no sense. just find more practice exams from different sources. they're out there.

oh yeah, and practices exams are the most important practice tool. if you take them timed, review your mistakes, and force yourself to improve, you'll see good results.
