How Valuable is a Formal Post Bacc Program? Please Help!

I received acceptance into a formal program (need to take all my premed courses), but due to personal reasons, I may not be able to attend. How do medical schools view a formal accelerated program vs. a 2 year do-it-yourself? Do you think admissions committees are more impressed with formal programs? Any insight would be appreciated.

I'll PM it to you. I'm from the SF bay area, so there are many schools I could attend for an informal program.

Yeah, it depends on the school. The top formal programs have fairly universal success sending students to top medical schools, so those are nice if you can get them. But taking classes on your own will suit you just fine in most cases -- no shortage of amazing medical students via that route, either.

I'm not sure I'd ever recommend doing a formal program against your personal best interest -- better to be happy and taking an extra year than racing into medical school a miserable, hollow, dispirited shell.
