How weird is it to have my favorite mentor pic in a watch?

Hey folks,

I found the perfect mentor throughout my rotations, who is a full source of inspiration through all aspects of professional and personal life to me.
Seeing him always bring me motivation and determination to do better, so I'm getting a watch with his picture on its background to keep up doing the good job.
The thing is, he probably will take me as a research intern, but will it be weird if he saw the watch later on? What's the best response without sounding creepy?
Thanks

Heart's in the right place, but it crosses the line. I agree with ortnakas, go with the thank you note.

Just blow up a photo and make it into a poster. Then write “hang in there” or “keep it up” in big bold letters. Finally, put it on your wall so it’s the first thing you see in the morning.

On the ceiling so it's the first thing you see when you open your eyes

I just spit out my tea, thank you Psai..

OP, I get it. It's rare to find a good mentor who cares. If you must carry around something to motivate you, write down an inspiring quote of his and stick it in your wallet. That way you can take it out and look at it as motivation. I have done that in the past. A picture of him as your watch background is going to make people think that you're in love with him. And even if you are, it may not be a good idea to advertise it to everyone.

I don't think that you should do that. He might wonder if you did an internet search on him, unless you took a picture with him. But it would still be a really awkward situation. If you must have the photo with you, you can put it in your phone with your other pictures. Then people won't see you with it, not unless you view the picture in front of others.

This won't be enough to show your gratitude and admiration. Build an elaborate shrine in your bedroom closet then invite Dear Mentor over to check it out.

Make sure to prepare and offer him a "special" drink for the occasion. Maybe you guys can rent "Misery" and watch it together.

Get your dungeon ready too.

why do people sign up 4 years ago, make 3 posts, all to make a return a troll debut? are trolls seriously investing this much long game?

or is it possible this guy is for realz?

is he from another country where this might not be so crazy?

ah, looking at the other posts I do suspect he's from another country. Not sure how I should feel now.

Would it be weird? No, not at all.
But instead I would get a watch made with your photo on the the face and give it to him as a reminder of his powerful impact on you and his other students.
It can inspire him!
You can just put his face on all your adult magazine and Internet porn models. That worked out pretty well for the (former) med student in Miami.

You people clearly don't know what real dedication or motivation looks like. OP, if your mentor is truly that much of an inspiration to you, then you should find a picture of him that truly inspires you (perhaps the one you'll put on your watch?), find a really fantastic tattoo artist, and get a tattoo of him on your chest.

Now, finding a tattoo artist worthy of such a task may not be easy, and it will certainly be a heftier financial investment than some poster or a watch, but it will be worth it to know he's right there, next to your heart, pushing you to keep going. If you're worried about the pain of getting a tattoo, you can just think of your mentor and how he'll soon be able to motivate your forever and that should be all the inspiration you need to fight through it.

why not get it on the wrist where the OP can always see it? and where the mentor can see it, and get that nudge nudge wink wink notice of what an inspiration they are?

You had to ask. You already know the answer.

Tom Brady's picture? Different story.

New idea - edit y’all’s faces into all the romantic montages with Jack and Rose from Titinic. Just in time for Christmas too.

You know, if I had seen this thread a few years ago I would have thought "That's pretty weird, this guy must be an outliner" but after interacting with the group of people the admission "gods" dug up to create the class of 2020, not surprised at all.

As other have stated, this is beyond weird bro. Everyone knows the way to go is photoshopped screen print t shirts.
