Hello everyone and thank you in advance for your help. I am currently in a predicament, I am planning on retaking the MCAT May 14, 2022, and I get my score back June 14, 2022. I already have a score on file with AAMC but I'm not happy with it, so how will me applying this cycle work. If I get my score back June 14 won't that be late for submitting primaries. Should I submit my application end of may to one throwaway school just to get verified? If I do so would my application automatically get updated when my new score comes in. Also can I add new schools after I see my mcat score on June 14. How would this work for AACOMAS?

I appreciate any help, and thank you very much!

Yes, you can submit to one throwaway school to get verified. When the new MCAT score arrives it will be added to your file automatically. You can add new schools at any time. No clue how AACOMAS works, but I'd be surprised if it isn't similar to AMCAS.

Have you started studying again in earnest? Any recent FL practice scores? I looked through your posting history and assume the 512 was aspirational, the 504 real, and the May 2020 attempt didn't happen.

Thank you very much for the help, yes it is exactly as you said, I got a low score because I didn't take the MCAT seriously enough, but am now studying really well and scoring 517-518 average on FL's. I also didn't touch the AAMC material last time which was a big mistake.

If you're already averaging around the 95th percentile, why not take it before May?

On your AMCAS you can always indicate that you have a pending score when you submit your application. I'm guessing AACOMAS will have a similar opportunity for you to mention it.

How is your GPA? Will you be done taking all of your classes by the time you submit (except for perhaps some final exams)? How much networking have you done with the MD and DO schools that were suggested to you in your WAMC? IMO, if you were to send to one school, the "throwaway" school should actually be your best match where you have made some connections and let them know of your interest in attending their school because of their focus on primary care, underserved communities, etc. Treat it as if it were like an Early Decision.

Respectfully disagree. What you are describing is the exact opposite of a "throwaway"!

What happens if OP has a bad day and the MCAT comes back with another 504? Using the throwaway for any purpose other than getting the verification process going is misusing it and is playing with fire at a school the applicant actually cares about without having the MCAT score in hand. Why risk it, just to get an application in a few weeks earlier at the very beginning of the cycle? IMHO, once you are applying blind to your best match, there is really no reason not include all your schools.

Okay... that's a good point. 🙂 I think I was more optimistic about the OP than I thought if he's truthful about the practices. 🙂 Nevermind my thought there and proceed. 🙂 Just don't wait too long to add your other schools: June is still fairly early in the timeline as most schools really will begin screening after July 4.
