If I send my application through PharmCAS, how will the pharmacy schools know that I was academically ineligible in my 5th of 9th semester due to low grades? Should I mention this in my personal statement or not?
If I send my application through PharmCAS, how will the pharmacy schools know that I was academically ineligible in my 5th of 9th semester due to low grades? Should I mention this in my personal statement or not?
The transcript will show that I only took 2 courses that semester but will it or pharmcas show that I was ineligible that semester? If not, should I just leave it alone and not mention it?
Request an official transcript from that institution for yourself. This will let you see what it says. I don't think PharmCAS will show it. My big question is whether your grades will be good enough to get in, if they were barely good enough to get through undergrad.
Every semester outside of that one semester is about at the expected gpa for most pharmacy schools. So will the schools understand it was just one bad semester when they see the grades for that semester in my transcript?
Also, in my personal statement should I explain why I had a bad semester?
One bad semester is understandable, and especially if there is a distinct upward trend in your grades from that trough, you'll be fine.
I would NOT address it in your personal statement unless it was something life-changing that you, as a person or your character as a human being, experienced a drastic change (i.e., you were hit by a car and lost a leg, and you've worked back into shape and can now compete is prosthesis marathons).
I retook the important ones the next semester (Physics and Spanish III) and got an A and A-. The other two were just electives for my degree (Astronomy, Geography) so I did not retake them since I'll have a total of around 150 credits.
So if schools see a good positive trend ( 3.6 for the last 40 credits before their deadline), will I be in good shape? Also, should I mention that I was ineligible, where would I do that?
Would it be ok if I only volunteered maybe like 2-3 months instead of 6?
During the interviews, would they ask about the bad semester I had in which I was ineligible?
Also, does PharmCAS have a section where I state pharmacy experience or will only the people interviewing me ask me about experience?
In the interviews, should I prepare to be asked about my ineligibility for one semester and also on pharmacy experience?
