How would you rank these post bac programs and why? Has anyone completed these programs and if so, how was it overall? Did you find it beneficial to getting into medical school? (pros and cons) Is it will structured? Thanks!

Columbia, UPenn, and Harvard Extension

I will be applying to these programs but not sure which one would prepare me best for medical schools! Thanks!

You are totally asking the wrong question. Whatever difference there is between the three is slight and virtually imperceptible to the general populous medical schools during application time. All three are ivys with great reps. Unless you are specifically interested in, and qualified for, one of the linkage programs offered by Columbia and Penn, there is very little to differentiate.

Just go to whichever one makes you the most comfortable when you visit...and definitely visit. Columbia is a great school with crap facilities (just like everything else in NY), Harvard is in Boston, which has terrible winters (dark, gray, miserable) and Penn is in Philly which is anything but the city of brotherly love. Check them out, visit the facilities, tour the city, talk to the faculty who are in charge of the program and to current students and ask yourself if you'd be happy there. Thats the best way, not someones subjective opinion on an anonymous internet message board.

where you go is pretty irrelevant when it comes to undergrad level coursework. as long as you get a challenging curriculum, and you kick some major @$$, you'll be golden. but if i were to give any program a one-up, i'd have to give harvard 👍 because it's really CHEAP for excellent instruction and resources.

Another factor you might want to consider is state residency -- specifically, if you are already a resident of one of the states where one of the programs is located, it may be worthwhile to do your post-bac in that state, so you can apply to the state's med schools as a resident.

Of course, how significant a factor that is is up to you, but it's something to consider.

I'd put Penn above Columbia and HES. The cost of Columbia is much higher compared to the other two programs. So now you're down to Penn and HES, which cost about the same if you factor in all expenses, not just tuition. Penn's program has linkage potential, and felt far more structured than HES's program when I visited each of them. If structure and cost matter to you, Penn's the clear winner IMO.
